MY SIX FAVORITE MOVIES

Donnie Darko Poster

DONNIE DARKO

Donnie Darko is awesome. I found myself trying to puzzle it together for the next three times I watched it. There is so much in here that a little blob could never do the story justice but if you haven't seen it, a quick synopsis: suburban kid starts to see a 'Demonic Rabbit' that tells him to do mischevious things. I've seen this movie about eight times and I think it's the most I've ever watched a movie. And another reason to watch this movie: 80's alternative music. Much better than 80's pop btw (ftw!!).

The Matrix Poster

THE MATRIX

The Matrix is another one of my favorites. I originally didn't want to see it when it came out. My manager at Movie World persuaded me to watch it, so one night I took it home and was blown away by it. I think I watched it like 3 times before I returned it. It's also the first movie I downloaded from the internet so long ago on Limewire. Not such a big fan of the sequels but this one is a masterpiece of sci-fi punk. The Matrix has been quoted, parodied, outright copied, blamed for all the violence in America since it's release and discussed probably more than any other movie and for very good reason.

Empire Records Poster

EMPIRE RECORDS

Empire Records is about a record shop that's going under. It's your typical big corporation vs little guy story with a cool ensemble cast that includes a young Renee Zelwiger, Liv Tyler, and Robbin Tunney. It's the teen movie with tons more edge and way better music than all the other teenage drivel. Damn the man, save the Empire! What are you waiting for?

Radioland Murders Poster

RADIOLAND MURDERS

This is a great entry in the mystery comedy genre. It's quite innocent, really. There are murders but they're not graphic so it's a movie that the whole family can watch. The movie is lightning fast paced and has a huge cast which is one of the reasons I love it. Why do I love ensemble casts so? For those of you that don't know it's about one hectic night at a Chicago radio station that is trying to go national. Set in 1930's gives a cool feeling of nostalgia.

Going Overboard Poster

GOING OVERBOARD

This is one of the only movies that I own on DVD that I actually paid for. Everyone hates it, but I love this one. Every scene is great. Every bit of dialogue is hilarious. What this movie has: Adam Sandler, lots of hot babes, stand-up comedy, rock and roll, chases, terrorists, a plot that doesn't make sense, and too many one-liners to count. Me and my brothers always used to quote this movie all day long. I wanna slap your cat! Miss Australia! We are coming for you! I highly recommend it.

Scarecrows Poster

SCARECROWS

This is a horror movie that works on so many levels. The effects and story are top-notch. The acting is so camp. You'll find yourself watching it again and again with all the lights off. It was made in 1988, back when horror was good without all those cinematic effects. If you're a horror flick fanatic, you gotta watch it. You ain't gonna find this one on bit-torrent, so you better order it via Amazon.
